TORONTO, November 7, 2006- Jie Matar, President and Creative Director of Canada’s leading beauty destination is nominated as a finalist for Elite Master Hairstylist of the Year and Salon Interior Design of the Year for the 2007 Canadian Hairstylist of the Year Awards. The 18th Annual Contessa Award ceremonies takes place on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, South Building, starting at 5pm.This is the second year in a row that Jie has been nominated as a finalist in these two categories. The Elite Master Hairstylist category awards the creative contribution of a leading professional working in the industry for a minimum of fifteen years and who produces the best FRONT COVER LOOK overall. Five looks are evaluated for originality, creativity, fashion appeal, model suitability, and technical execution. Photography, makeup and wardrobe are also considered. The Salon Interior Design category awards the top salon which showcases the best interior design. Photographs of the reception/waiting area, retail area, styling area and technical area are evaluated along with salon floor plans. Matar presented five signature looks that communicated a statement of confidence, sex and beauty, challenging classic French, English and American fashion trends. The models were chosen for their strong attitudes, the wardrobe and jewellery for sex appeal and drama and the hairstyles for details and VOLUME. Jie gives a voice to the global woman who understands the significance of HAIR AS FASHION and who is willing to break the RULES.
